Forces Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpRQQjoggz8 [2.52 mins]
Write:
Name at least four types of forces identified in the song (not push and pull, speed up or slow down - these are actions that result from forces.)
Why does the unit used to measure force start with a capital letter?
What are two opposite forces called when they cancel each other out?
4. Why does the parachute slow the person's fall?
I can...
1.1 describe changes that take place in shape and motion as a result of forces acting.

Rapid-write five ways an object can have its movement changed. (Don't peek!!)
Choose one force and give an example.
Look at the answers in the drop-down box and give an example of the sixth force acting.
A force has acted to cause each of these:
speeds up
slows down
starts moving
stops moving
changes direction
A force can also cause something to change shape.
Rapid-write five ways an object can have its movement changed. (Don't peek!!)
Identify a way a force can act on an object but not change its movement.
Give an example of a situation where all of these forces could be acting at the same time.
A force has acted to cause each of these:
speeds up
slows down
starts moving
stops moving
changes direction
A force has also acted if something changes shape.
A collision between a moving and a stationary object would cause all five changes in movement. If one object was much harder than the other, it could cause a change in shape.

Think about the PowerPoint you watched in 1.2A.
Use it to complete the Worksheet right.
Analyse the movement of the gymnast in the tumble.
Identify push, pull and twist forces happening in the image.
Write or draw your answer.
I can...
1.3 draw clear force diagrams to represent forces acting on an object.
Download the image by clicking the arrow at the top right of the document, then clicking the download icon on the page that opens.
Create a way to represent the forces that are acting in the diagrams.

Upload your answer here. Instructions are in the drop-down box. (No peeking here if you are doing the green task!)
Show the forces acting in each picture by drawing straight horizontal or vertical lines.
Turn them into arrows, point them in the direction the force is acting. For the swimmer, for example, there would be an arrow above the water pointing towards her arm to show the force of her forward movement through the water. The diagram shows this for you.
What about other forces: Why doesn't she sink? Why does she stay in the water and not fly away? What might slow her down in the water?
